Cake Art & the beauties of it

Food can also be seen as a form of art. It is a way of expressing yourself through an activity.  From personal experience, I know how fun and entertaining it can be to work on cakes that are actually edible but seem to be made out of plastic.  Here is a photo of a cake my sister and I worked on recently.  It manages to incorporate fashion which in this case is the zebra print and the bow into an edible piece of art.

Here is a cute cupcake that depicts picnic on the top of the cupcake. Its attention to detail is so astonishing.

This princess is all edible made most likely out of gum paste, modeling chocolate and fondant.  The cake itself of course is the dress.

This suitcase looks so realistic, from the handle to the money within the suitcase. It is interesting to find out how exactly this baker attached the top of the briefcase to the bottom.

Can makeup be considered art?

Whether you are on the streets or at home on a rainy day watching movies, you can see many examples of makeup art.  Makeup in itself is used to conceal blemishes or even bring out the beauty in usually females.  As for movies, makeup designers have the advantage of transforming a human into anything such as an alien or zombie.  Here is a photo of some type of creature.  This probably took hours to complete.

Hair Art

It’s not every day that you will see a head full of extensions, but hair art does exist.  In the fashion world, hair is just as important as your outfit.  Here are some photos of extreme hair art.  As you take a look at these images, think about the time and effort it takes for artist to create this look.  It can take sometimes  a minimum of ten hours to complete these high end do’s.

Architectural Design

I first found out about cave homes by watching design shows.   I think its a very beautiful piece of architecture.

It uses natural elements and incorporates it into a usable place to live.

Jenny Beorkrem created the round house that is also solar paneled.  It takes a lot of experience and talent to come up with around house.

Custom made furniture was also made to fit into the home, since no furniture could properly fit.

When people think of architecture, they usually think of extravagant over the top designs.  There are many small homes that are just as fascinating.  Portable homes are beginning to be very common.  Here is one that is very  interesting.

Beautiful Maps

A.W.  Butterfield created this map of the United States, it currently sells for 100 dollars.

  It’s a beautiful way to represent the United States, which is through different types of flowers.

This is a map of portland. I thought it was interesting how in each spot on the map it manages to say the name of that neighborhood.  Maps like this and others were created by Jenny Beorkrem. 

This is the mind map of Edwars Tufte’s Beautiful Evidence.

Its a very busy map, but in some still demonstrates some type of organization in some way.

Graffiti

This is a photo of graffiti art that fuses a subject onto its background.

Its invigorating colors made it a memorable photo when searching

for graffiti wall images.  Its surroundings give it a slum edge.

The surface that this artist decided to tag up made this graffiti artwork different from the rest.

I came across one this photo on a graffiti website available on the blogroll.

  I loved the attention to detail this artist gave his graffiti work.

Solving Problems through Design

This invention is very simple.

 It has turned your feet into a duster and

 was made for lazy cleaners.  While keeping your feet warm,

 you’re also able to sweep those dust bunnies away.  Definitely not something you would really want to wear in public.

When your eyes are dried, these are the glasses you might

want to carry around.  ALong with some eyedrops.  This

takes the idea of designer glasses and turns them into

an eyedrop tool.  No need to waste your eyedrops by missing your eyes. 

This may not be a fashion statement, but it sure is a clever invention.

This trendy design takes candy wrappers and turns it into a clutch. 

 Its a way of recycling, while looking fashionable.
